About The Band

Introducing Wave Raiders, a trio of alternative rock disruptors from the Sunshine Coast. Fuelled by a love of alternative rock, surf culture, and the last 25 years of Australian music, they’re forging a genre they call ‘Neo-Surf Rock Psychedelia’. They’re loud, unpredictable, and impossible to ignore.

Between school and surfing, the trio can be found meticulously honing their skills to create a show that is equal parts instrumentally tight and entertaining. “We want people to come to our shows and see it as an experience…a community where everyone can express themselves and have a good time with their mates” – Wave Raiders.

This next generation of stage shredders formed at just 10 – 12 years old. Within a few years, they have skyrocketed from local RSLs to major festival stages across the country – from the Airlie Beach Festival of Music to Bluesfest Byron Bay to Good Things Festival in Brisbane. They’ve had viral festival moments (including being called onstage by Spiderbait to perform ‘Calypso’ in front of 10,000 fans). They’ve shared stages with the likes of New Found Glory, Amy Shark, The Angels, The Beautiful Girls, Jem Cassar Daley, The Choir Boys, Middle Kids, James Reyne, Boom Crash Opera, Mi-Sex, Dragon, Tanya George, Pricey and Kingswood. And they’ve snagged coveted support slots on tours with The Screaming Jets and The Superjesus

Already recognised as one of the country’s hardest working young bands, Triple J selected Wave Raiders for their 2025 Unearthed High Yearbook, noting their recent single ‘My Way’ as a head-banger “most likely to headline a seaside festival”.

When their debut single sold out its launch show, ‘The Raiders’ quickly earned nominations for ‘Rising Star‘ and ‘Young Artist of the Year‘ at local awards, propelling them to start creating their debut EP. Production was overseen by Cameron McGlinchey of The Screaming Jets and Rogue Traders, and the internationally acclaimed, ARIA-winning, and Grammy-nominated Steve James, known for his work with The Angels, Cold Chisel, Skunkhour, and The Screaming Jets

Wave Raiders released their debut EP ‘Nothing Better’ in November 2025, featuring four tracks: ‘Fun’ (October 2024), ‘Don’t Wanna Be Late’ (April 2025), ‘My Way’ (July 2025), and ‘Nothing Better’ (November 2025), all of which showcase a band sharpening their identity while fearlessly pushing the boundaries of Australian rock. The first three singles have already generated major momentum, gaining international radio airplay, playlist support, and raving reviews.

What’s next for this group of school friends who are ready to take the world by storm? “Now we’re bringing a lot more depth into our music, both lyrically and instrumentally. We’re really going to go places we haven’t been before” – Wave Raiders.

Supported by the Regional Development Assistance Program, a partnership between the Queensland Government (through Arts Queensland) and Sunshine Coast Council, the band is channelling a groundswell of local support into a full-blown siege on the national scene. They aren’t just riding the wave; they are the wave.
